Lagos reopens Iponri market
The Iponri market in Lagos Mainland was reopened yesterday after being shut nine days ago.
Our correspondent gathered that the market was reopened a little after noon yesterday following the intervention of stakeholders. Trouble started Saturday, February 8 when Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo who was last year installed as the Iyaloja General sent policemen of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to shut down the market.
Traders rejoiced after the reopening but some complained of heavy losses. Some of them stocked perishable commodities while some imported items related to the Valentine’s Day. Shop owners said the market has unjustly been closed for over a week. Mrs. TinubuOjo’s posture over the issue attracted widespread comments.
