Police detain trader over colleague’s death

Police in Ekiti State have arrested and detained a trader, Mrs. Aminat Raheem, over the death of a 56-year-old trader, Mrs Bosede Ajayi.

It was gathered that the deceased slumped and died shortly after having an altercatio­n with the suspect over the ownership of a space at the popular Bisi Market in Ado-Ekiti.

The incident, according to a witness, followed an exchange of words between the two.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Command, Mr Victor Babayemi, who confirmed the incident, said it was a case of homicide.

Babayemi said 40-year old Aminat has been arrested and that she is being detained at the Okesa Police Station in Ado Ekiti.

He said preliminar­y investigat­ion confirmed that the matter was settled between the duo and that Mrs Ajayi was displaying her wares when she slumped.

He said the woman was immediatel­y rushed to the Comprehens­ive Health Centre in Okeyinmi area of Ado Ekiti, where she died.
