106 killed in fresh Borno attack

-

The attack is one too many, many a thousand lives were lost and the loss is continuing unabated in a higher number. Whoever may be behind the extinction should know that every nation is a sovereign state. Attack of such magnitude on citizens living around the border with other countries and indeed on communities that are mainly farmers, fishermen and cattle herders that feed the nation is attack on the economy of the country. The North-east zone under siege has international cattle and fish markets patronised by people from all parts of the country and beyond. We have a government and an internationally acclaimed Armed Force supported by the State of Emergency declaration, and yet attacks are continuing on a larger scale. This attack is more or less an invasion similar to what is happening in Mali and it is time the government rise to the challenge be it from Boko Haram or anybody. If the Nigerian government cannot fight it alone, it is time a joint AU Force comes to the aid of Nigeria. We are under invasion. If there is indeed the will to stop the carnage, 40,000 soldiers with adequate armoury are enough to stop the aggression. Enough is enough. I hope they are listening.

Ibrahim ibrahaba@yahoo.com ************************ Nigeria has about 80,000 soldiers and over 250,000 policemen. Is Borno’s situation not worth 75,000 people? If they are not enough, Nigeria can always recruit more. We need serious change, from Mr. President to the ordinary clerk in our ministries. Too many innocent people have died.

Jigawa Man jigawaman@hotmail.com ************************ Cowards at work in the name of Islam!

Beddy Chibs bekwgha@yahoo.com ************************ The dead are the heroes and heroines; May God console them and give them rest. Hypocritical political leaders of Northern extraction, keep on playing with the noble lives of your populace - shame on you not to have called a spade a spade. Today, the vipers have grown to feed on blood. How do we tame them now?

Oge ogerem@yahoo.com ************************ I totally agree with you; we are busy doing peacekeeping in other countries while our country boils.

Bello bsaula1@gmail.com ************************ We should be truthful and unbiased in our comments. When it was the military killing Boko Haram some northern Muslim elites were pouring insults on the military and the government indicting them for killing their youths and yet they say Boko Haram is not Islamic or the brainwork of the Muslim elites against the Christian minorities in the far north. Where are the elites now? Or are the people being killed now not their youths because they are Christians or poor people that cannot defend themselves? God is seeing all that we are doing; being a Muslim or Christian will not make you jump the Judgement Day. The government should also live up to their expectations and responsibilities of defending and protecting the lives and properties of every citizen be it a Christian or a Muslim.

Samfi Kesuwo pskesuwo@yahoo.com ************************ It is the enemies of Islam and Muslims at work (hiding) under the guise of Boko Haram. This is sad! The government will never be exonerated from this. How could you explain the presence of heavy military check points in all the nooks and cronies of our major cities yet the killings and bombings continue on daily basis. No hint, no arrests, nothing; just killings and counter killings. It is just a grand conspiracy against the North and its people. Allah ya isa!

Abdulqadir Yakubu abdulkadirym@yahoo.com The objective of the blood thirsty attackers is being revealed; they are now targeting civilians, including women and children, but the youths are their main target. Apart from brutal killings, they also destroy properties and capture girls as war booty who they turn into sex slaves. On the other hand, the governments at all levels are taking cosmetic measures that have failed woefully to address the menace. Inspite of the billions of Naira that go into the war against terrorism in Nigeria, there is no significant result and the leaders still think we should appreciate their failure. This barbarism is not only appalling but baffling because it is happening in the 21st Century.

Comrade Bishir Dauda Katsina unshakablecomrade@yahoo.com ************************ The Nigerian Army’s claim of involvement of Ghadafi run-away army is eminently valid. There are videos of Boko Haram operations going round which confirms this. You could visibly point out white mercenaries. Boko Haram’s grand plan is well known. They attack villages in order to sack inhabitants and render the areas unattractive for military protection; with the aim of grabbing the territory later. Boko Haram is even more prepared for fight than any conventional army. No amount of ground assault can solve the problem. It is only a sustained, combined land and air bombardment that can route or wipe them out. They go for operation with fleet of machine guns mounted on Hilux vehicles, and they deploy over 500 men during an attack, thereby overwhelming any ground force. Boko Haram enjoys international terrorist assistance.
