Shagaya, Nakande call for free LG polls

- From Lami Sadiq, Jos

Plateau State Interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) General John Shagaya and his secretary, Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande yesterday called on Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASEIC) to ensure that the forthcoming local government election is free and fair.

Shagaya who reiterated his position at the official presentation of three vans to the APC by Suleiman Yahaya Kwande who recently decamped to the APC from the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) said “we ask for only three things in APC: that all the parties in contest for the local government election should be allowed a free, safe playing ground, the security personnel should shun all sentiments and we urge the voters and candidates to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner, no display of rascality.”

“I have confidence in PLASIEC, they have not given me a reason not to but I hope they will do the right thing and ensure the elections are free and fair,” he added.

While receiving the keys and particulars of the vans, Shagaya said Kwande’s support to the party during its membership registration exercise was a good booster for the APC.

Also speaking, Nakande said the APC was grateful for the donation of the three utility buses adding that it would help the smooth running of the party affairs.

Kwande promised to do everything possible for the success of the APC as it prepares towards winning elections in the state and the nation at large.
