Kano sets up anti-drug club in public schools
Kano State Government has established Youth Against Drug Abuse (YADA) clubs in all public secondary and tertiary institutions in the state.
Speaking during the inauguration of the clubs, Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso said the initiative was aimed at containing the menace of drug abuse among youths in the state.
He said: “The war against illicit, fake hard and counterfeit drugs and abuse is a battle to finish. We will not relent, nor succumb to cheap blackmail now or ever in the crusade.”
Kwankwaso urged youths to be fully involved in the activities of the clubs so as to end the menace of drug abuse in the state.
The governor also appealed to wellmeaning individuals and groups to support the government to combat social evils and rehabilitate drug addicts.
“Our ability to compete and get our fair share in mixed and, unfortunately, loosely integrated country like Nigeria depends on your capabilities”, stated Kwankwaso, adding that the capability of the youths depended on their education, skills, hard work, patriotism and moral excellence.
