Others are; table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weight -lifting, wrestling and football.
Inaugurating the boards, the Secretary of FCT Sports department, Blessing Onuh said the inauguration of the associations was necessitated by the need to transform sports in the territory.
She acknowledged that from being a recreational activity, sports has now become a vehicle for societal development.
She therefore called on members of the various sports associations’ boards to bring their experiences to bear in helping to improve sports in FCT.
“I urge you to come up with grassroots oriented programmes that will help improve sports in the FCT.”
Earlier, the Director of FCT Sports department, Musa Alim commended the Board members of the associations for accepting the responsibility of repositioning sports in the territory.
While recalling the landmark achievements the FCT had recorded over the years, Alim expressed optimism that the territory would do better with the reconstitution of the associations.
