Man beheads 2-year-old, rapes his mother
A man, Mamodu Bashir Ibrahim, has been arrested for beheading a two year old boy in Owode Egba area of Ogun State after raping the mother of the baby. He committed the act when the woman went to a nearby bush to ease herself. He said the head of the boy was sold to a woman in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Witnesses said the man trailed the woman to the bush and pounced on her with the baby tied to her back and dragged them into an uncompleted building where he raped the woman, stabbed her and killed the boy before severing his head.
It was gathered that someone who suspected his movement trailed him to the building but he escaped and he was able to rescue the woman with the headless body of the boy.
When he was arrested, the man led men from the Criminal Investigation Department of the state police command to the scene. The knife used in the killing was discovered there. Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the suspect was arrested through the help of some community leaders.
Adejobi added that further interrogation of the suspect revealed that he had sold the head and detectives were on the trail of the buyer.
Speaking with newsmen, the man confessed committing the crimes. He also said there is a woman in Ibadan with whom he was working. The remains of the boy have been buried while the mother is responding to treatment in hospital.
