Why I joined APC - Bilbis
Former minister of state for information, Alhaji Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, has explained that he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) because the APC is showing more commitment towards the transformation of the country.
Bilbis who was received into the APC at rally in Gusau on Saturday, told our correspondent in Abuja that having served as a leading member of the PDP in the past, he has discovered the party is drifting in the wrong direction.
“I recall with emotion how, using the instrument of the party, we had under the able leadership of President Umaru Yar’adua, sought to bring about change to the polity by remaining firm to our commitment to the development of the nation.
“But the PDP we have today, I must say, has deviated from the focus of its founding fathers and has shrunken into a ghost of itself, with no clear cut programme, while allowing itself to be overwhelmed by what ordinarily, should have been opportunities to show its capabilities,” he said.
He said the APC provides the alternative for good governance in the country with a “clear vision and purposeful leadership.”
The former minister said he was encouraged to join the APC “by the good example of purposeful leadership provided by Governor Abdulazeez Yari of Zamfara State who he said has not only laid the foundation for the growth of the state but has gone far to improve the lot of the common man.
He called on the people of the state to join the party.
