Gunmen kill vigilante man in Bauchi

Gunmen, at the weekend shot a member of a vigilante group in Soro village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, while confirming the incident, said the gunmen entered the residence of Sarkin Bindiga in Soro town and shot a member of a vigilante group.

It was gathered that after the incident, the man, identified as Wada, was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi. Mohammed said no arrest has been made but that police have commenced investigat­ion into the matter.

A security source told newsmen that the hoodlums were looking for the chairman of the vigilante group and that it was because they couldn’t find him that they shot one of his boys. He added that the victim died while receiving treatment in the hospital.
