Buhari, Atiku, others remember Tinubu’s mother
Former Military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari and former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, were among the dignitaries who attended the memorial for late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, mother of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The one year remembrance prayer for the late Iyaloja General and President General of Market Men and Women in Nigeria, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, which was held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, attracted eminent personalities from across the country.
In his sermon at the event, Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Islam, Sheik Shakirudeen Mofeshaye, urged political leaders to re-dedicate themselves to service.
“I am asking you all; the past presidents here, past vice president, ministers, governors, to remember your beginnings. The Almighty Allah gives one an opportunity to exist and become somebody only for a period of time. The question is; what will you achieve in those number of years that you have sojourned on the surface of the earth,” he said.
Other Muslim clerics and scholars in attendance prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Iyaloja General, who they acknowledged was a mother to many during her lifetime.
Some of the eminent Nigerians who graced the occasion include former Interim National Chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Sir Molade Okoya Thomas, among others.
