State coordinator of the commission, Muhammad Rufai Coomassie, in a letter to the commissioner of police, stressed the need for investigation into the case so as to bring the culprits to book.

Coomassie said the commission received complaint from the victim’s family that she was attacked and raped by four boys and that when they went in search of her, she was found in the alleged violators’ room.

He said the suspects were later caught but that one Alhaji Yakubu directed that they should be released and that he would produce them whenever the need arises.

Coomassie added that the case was reported to the Wurno Divisional Police headquarters and that a policeman was assigned to effect arrest of the alleged violators, but that nothing was done.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Al-Mustapha Sani, confirmed that the case was reported.

He said the police commissioner has directed the Divisional Police Officer to transfer the case to the police headquarters in Sokoto for proper investigation
