I laugh whenever they call themselves progressives. What’s progressive in their acts? Ahmed Tinubu is a leader of the progressives, and he’s the richest Yoruba man

countries could overcome, by the grace of God, Nigeria too will overcome. Security is not about the army or the police alone. It’s about everybody. It’s about all citizens being ready to be patriotic enough to give relevant information to the security agencies. They are not magicians! They work on information. If we all cooperate to help the security agencies, the problem of insecurity would be solved.

What is your take on the persistent calls for state police?

It would’ve been a noble idea if we were advanced enough to insulate sentiments from it. If those calling for state police today have a chance of controlling the federal government, they’d no longer call for state police. The type of state police they’re people would run away from the states. We’ve to revisit the call for state police in future when we grow beyond partisan politics and when we’re more mature as a country. But for now; no.

How ready are the police to ensure a crisis-free gubernatorial election in Ekiti this Saturday, given the recent violence in the state?

We’ve a president that believes strongly in universal adult suffrage. He’s an advocate of oneman-one-vote. He has severally said that his election or his being in government is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. He took advice from people to appoint a pro-democracy advocate as chairman of the INEC whom he believes nobody can buy. As for Ekiti election, people should not ranking between 26th and 27th after the introduction of computer tablets (opon imo) to those who are not ICT-compliant, and after spending about N17 billion, they now want to withdraw the computer tablets from circulation. The economies of Ekiti and Osun States have gone comatose because there are no local contents. Today, the construction of a school is costing N500 million and all the contents are being imported from Lagos. The people of South-West are no fools. They want to vote out such infidels in government and bring in those who know their yearnings and aspirations. The incumbent governors are blackmailing us because of the defeat staring them in the face. But we’re undeterred. We’re appealing to our people to go to the polling
