Aduda urges peaceful co-existence in FCT
The senator representing Federal Capital Territory in the National Assembly, Philips Tanimu Aduda, has appealed to the residents of the territory to continue to live harmoniously with one another and support the government’s efforts to develop the territory.
Aduda, who made the appeal in Abuja during a celebration to mark his 45 birthday on Saturday, reminded the residents that the territory cannot witness meaningful development in the absence of peace and tolerance.
He urged the residents, especially women to continue to participate actively in the nation’s politics by choosing credible candidates that will represent them at all levels of government.
While commending the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan -led federal government, the Senator urged the FCT residents to key into the federal government’s policies, aimed at eradicating poverty among the citizenry.
He said at 45, he has just begun his service to his people in the area of human development.
Also speaking, the Bwari Council Chairman, Dr. Peter Yohanna Ushafa, described Senator Aduda as a role model, who has contributed immensely to the development of the FCT.
He appealed to the residents to continue to support his efforts, aimed at developing communities in the six area councils.
Meanwhile, The Commandant, Peace Corps of Nigeria, Mr. Dickson Akor, has conferred a Senior Advocate of Peace Award on the Senator Philips Aduda, who is also the chairman, Senate Committee on Power, as part of the activities to mark his 45th birthday ceremony.
Akor, who described Aduda as Epitome of Peace in FCT, said Aduda is the first sitting senator to be bestowed with this international recognition because of his role toward building bridges for peace in the FCT and beyond.
