Kpakor confident Eagles will beat Iran

- By Mike Oboh

Former super Eagles midfielder, Moses Kpakor believes that Eagles strikers will give the team an edge over their Iranian counterpart as they battle this evening in the second match of group F at the ongoing 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday in a telephone interview, the former BCC Lions and Abiola Babes midfield maestro said that with the calibre of strikers in the Eagles, the Iranians are in for big trouble.

According to him, the Eagles attacking line is so formidable that it can easily penetrate into the defence of Iran to give the nation the desired victory in the opening game.

Kpakor who said the players need to play as a collective team to ensure victory however expressed worries over the defence line of the Eagles.

“We have a very mobile attack, which I am confident will give Nigeria the victory. However, having a good mid field and not too strong defence line means they have to play for each other to stop Iranians invasion.

“Although we do not know much about Iran, I am sure the coaches have done their best and the players are in the right frame of mind to win the opening game.

“Our team is not a push over. I am just praying the lapses noticed in the defence line during the Confederation Cup should be corrected. We will definitely get past the Iran,” he said.

Going by the high spirit in the team’s camp, Kpakor was also optimistic that the Eagles will advance to the next stage of the 2014 World Cup.
