Dosu says Eagles should expect tough Iran

- By David Ngobua

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dosu Jospeh has said the Eagles should expect a very tough Iranian team as they clash in the second match of group F today in Curitiba.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the Olympian said Eagles should not think that they will easily over-run their opponents.

He said Eagles should not be deceived by uninformed comments which suggested that Iran will not pose any serious challenge.

Dosu explained that before now, only a few people would have agreed that Spain would be annihilated by Holland and Costa Rica will make a mice meat of Uruguay.

He said the 2014 World Cup is already springing surprises so Eagles should not fall victim by undermining the capabilities of the Iranians.

The former Julius Berger of Lagos keeper said Eagles must approach the match against Iran with all seriousness saying they must be ready to fight for the full 90 minutes.

“I want Eagles to know that they cannot just over-run Iran. They should be ready to fight for even more than 90 minutes.

“What can give them victory is determination, team work and confidence. They must play as a team and minimize mistakes especially in their own half of the field.

“I also want them to be aware of what happened to Spain and Uruguay. Before now, nobody would have believed that Holland will beat Spain with as much as five goals and Costa Rica will demolish Uruguay with three goals. These are examples that should make the players to be more careful with Iran,” he said.

Dosu also said he does not believe in FIFA ranking so the Eagles should keep that aside and go for the three points.
