Stop calling us APC lawmakers, Edo assembly members warn
Members of the Edo State House of Assembly elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) have criticised the media, especially the electronic media, for referring to them as “APC legislators’’.
Chairman, House Committee on Information, Kabiru Adjoto, who spoke yesterday during plenary of the group at the Old Assembly Complex, said: ``I want to correct an impression and the use of language in some media, especially the electronic media. The media should stop referring to us as APC lawmakers. We are not APC legislators but honourable members of the House elected on the APC platform by the people to represent them. I am using this medium to inform the media and the public to address the legislators and the speaker properly”.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader, Mr Philip Shaibu, said he read reports where the lawmakers were said to be holding sessions in the governor’s office, describing the reports as misinformation. He urged newsmen to always get their facts right.
The Edo State House of Assembly has been in crisis since June 9, following the suspension of four lawmakers, including the Deputy Speaker, Mr Festus Ebea.
The minority PDP legislators hold their plenary in the assembly complex, while the majority APC legislators sit at the Old Assembly Complex. (NAN)
