We will reclaim Imo in 2015 – APGA

- By Saawua Terzungwe

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said it would reclaim Imo State in the 2015 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration of its Imo State caretaker committee yesterday in Abuja, national chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, said the party suffered setback when Governor Rochas Okorocha who was elected on its platform defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“When we started making progress, Okorocha who was elected on our platform defected to another party and the case is still in the court but we will surely recover our mandate in Imo in 2015. The Imo people are ready to do it,” he said.

Chief Umeh who expressed confidence in the ability of APGA to win the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Imo State as well as seats in the National Assembly in 2015 stressed that victory can only be achieved if all the caretaker committee embark on membership drive in the state and imbibe the spirit of uniting all members of the party in the state.

“Go and work hard to ensure that the party gets the best candidate who will win elections. Do not allow yourselves to be manipulated, take decisions that will benefit our party. Look for the materials you need and deliver them to our party, many people will come into our party before 2015 so go and knock at their doors and bring them into APGA, our doors are still opened,” he said.

The APGA chairman who stressed the need for peace and unity among party members argued that what make any political party strong is unity and winning elections from the local state to the federal levels.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated caretaker committee in Imo State, chairman of the committee, Barrister Peter Eze Obi pledged to deliver Imo State to APGA in 2015.
