Youths tasked on peace as women hold Iftar for residents

The wife of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Mohammed, has called on Muslim youths to always embrace peace and shun all vices inimical to not just their personal success in life but the progress of the nation as well.

Hajiya Mohammed made the call at the 2014 Youth Iftar, organised by the associatio­n of Women in Da’awah held on Sunday at the Fou’ad Lababidi Islamic Academy, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja.

While tasking the youths on the need to always avoid idleness which could breed vices, she urged them to develop the culture of saving and entreprene­urship in order to escape the unemployme­nt challenge in the country.

She also advised mothers to seek knowledge of good morals and instill such in their children so that they would become good citizens of the country.

A guest speaker at the event, Muhammad Abdullah, said youths needed to understand difference­s in cultures and religions of the society in order to be accommodat­ing of one another.

The national Vice President of the associatio­n, Hajiya Rahmatu Musa Sani, said the Iftar was convened with youths in focus in order to bring their attention to peace, considerin­g the security problem in the country.

The Youth Iftar, which is an evening gathering where foods is served for the break of Ramadan fast, is held annually during the month of Ramadan by the associatio­n and it serves as an opportunit­y for women of the associatio­n to bring to the attention of the youths, issues that will promote their faith and welbeing in the society.
