Ex-chairmanship candidate, others dump APC for PDP at Kuje
The former Chairmanship candidate of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) during the last council’s election in Kuje Area Council of the FCT, Abdullahi Suleiman Sabo, Saturday defected from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC ) to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the area.
Notable among his over 5,000 supporters that defected to the ruling party, included former secretary of the council, Alhaji Saidu Bala Sabo, ex-APC youth leader, Abdulhameed Idris, ex-APC woman leader, Aisha Salihu, former councillorship candidates of Rubochi, Chibiri and Kuje wards among others.
The former chairmanship candidate said, he and his supporters decided to dump APC in order to add value to the ruling PDP because of the present administration’s efforts at touching the lives of residents of the area through the provision of basic amenities without discrimination.
“I was born and brought up in opposition but I have resolve not to die in opposition and that is why today I am joining the ruling PDP along with over 5,000 of my supporters including some stakeholders from the opposition,’’ he said.
PDP chairman in FCT, Alhaji Yahaya Suleiman, represented by his deputy, Mr. Samson Baba Galuwi, congratulated the decampees for picking tent with the PDP.
He said the party’s door is widely open to accommodate the opposition members, who are willing to join the ruling party and assured the decampees of equal treatment.
The chairman of the council, Shaban Ishaku Tete, said with the coming of the former chairmanship candidate and his supporter into the ruling party, there is no more opposition party in the council.
