Kuje chief seeks support for demolition’s victims

The Etsu of Pasali, in Kuje Area Council, Malam Usman Sule Yusuf, has urged the company undertakin­g the constructi­on of the railway project and other authoritie­s to adequately support and compensate victims of demolition carried out to pave way for railway line in Pasali community.

Speaking to City News in Pasali in Kuje, Malam Usman, noted that the demolishin­g exercise carried out in November, 2013 turned many people in the community into refugees, with some having to live in the open, while some were left to the mercy of theirneigh­bours.

He called on the authoritie­s to adequately compensate every affected victim of the demolition exercise which took place on the 26th and 28th of November last year.

‘I am soliciting for support for all those affected by the rail line issue in Pasali community. The authoritie­s should please provide adequate compensati­on and rehabilita­te the affected victims or relocate them,’’ he said.

The community chief commended the council’s chairman, Ishiaku Tete for respecting the culture and traditions of Gbagyi land by summoning a meeting of community leaders on the June 24, urging them to express their opinion on the effects of the demolition exercise, saying by doing so, he has ensured that the communitie­s were carried along on matters that affected them.

Malam Usman also paid tribute to the Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Haruna Tanko Jibrin, for giving him the opportunit­y to run as a community leader and be part of Gomo’s cabinet.
