Club owners to meet Danagogo over FIFA ban

- By Mike Oboh

The Association of Premier League Club Chairmen and Managers (Club Owners) has resolved to meet with Sports Minister Dr. Tammy Danagogo as part of the ongoing measures to resolve the wrangling in the nation’s football sector and also free the country from the grip of the current FIFA ban.

Similarly, the club bosses also called on all stakeholders in the Nigerian football to cooperate and ensure that everything is done to get the FIFA suspension on Nigeria lifted.

Acting Secretary of the Club Owners Alloy Chukwuemeka, who confirmed this development in Abuja, noted that “the foundation of every country’s football is built with the clubs and as such the chairmen and managers of football clubs are in a better position to proffer solutions to issues that borders on the principles and protocols of football management and administration”.

“The need to meet with the minister was canvassed at the meeting and we are making efforts to ensure that the meeting holds as soon as possible,” he said.

Speaking further, Chukwuemeka urged all the stakeholders to come together because the body strongly believes that the synergy of the collective efforts will help in building the capacity to solve the problems.

The body also urged all the stakeholders in the country to always to maximize the use of all the available internal mechanisms in resolving football issues instead of resorting to litigations in the conventional courts which FIFA, the world football governing body frowns at.

They also advocated for respect and strict adherence to football statutes, rules and extant laws as approved by FIFA.
