Chief Oversight Officer of Sustainable Healthcare Initiative (SHI), Dr. Mike Omotosho, was recently recognized for advancing professionalism in programme and project management in Nigeria and abroad. Omotosho, a Harvard trained programme manager with over 18 years of professional excellence, was on the select list of five Africans honoured by the African Project and Programme Management Association (APPMA) with the regional Project Management Excellence Award (PMEA) recently.
The award, which was part of the activities at the 2014 African Project and Program Management Conference (APPMC) held in Accra, Ghana, was handed over by Lt Gen. Arnold Quainoo (Pioneer Commander of the Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group - ECOMOG and former Minister of Defence, Ghana) who chairs the APPMA advisory board.
In a citation read by President of the African Project and Programme Management Association, Prof Festus Ukwuoma, Omotosho was recognized for exhibiting leadership and professional excellence in his career as an accomplished chief executive, humanitarian and administrator.
As part of the award, Dr. Omotosho would also receive the prestigious Chartered Fellow Status and the elitist Master Project Manager (MPM) from the American Academy of Project Management (AAPM).
Omotosho who thanked the APPMA and its stakeholders for the award said, “I want to illustrate the difference between extraordinary projects and regular projects with the sequence of events. We all manage projects. That is the reality, but what makes that project extraordinary is the finesse you add to the sequence of events.
He also praised the association for launching the Women in Project.
Management Africa (WiMPA), stressing how more women should join changing the regional project management landscape.
