‘War against insurgency cannot be won with hatred’

- From Christiana T. Alabi, Kaduna

Special Adviser to the Kaduna State Governor on Religious Affairs (Christian Matters), Reverend Joseph Hayab, has said that the war against insurgency cannot be won with hatred but with love and prayers.

Speaking during a prayer session organised by Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), a nongovernmental organisation in Nigeria, Reverend Hayab, who is one of the board members of the group, advocated for love and better understanding in handling the issue of insurgency.

He reiterated the need for fervent prayers, while advising Nigerians to avoid religious and political sentiments as the electioneering year draws near.

“Nigeria will not disintegrate as speculated by those who do not mean well for the country,” he said.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organisation, Reverend Yunusa Nmadu, said genuine repentance and prayers are the sure ways of seeking God’s intervention in the problems facing the country.

He said it has become imperative to resort to prayers for God to intervene in the security situation of the country in view of several security measures put in place which have so far not yielded the desired result.

“The essence of the prayers is for insurgents to have a change of heart and stop the act of terror, for the leadership of the country, for the release of the abducted Chibok girls and for peace and stability of the nation. It is also organised for the peaceful conduct of the 2015 general elections,” he said.
