- By Francis Arinze Iloani

The annual graduation ceremony of Islamic Model School, Kubwa held on Saturday with a call on government to partner with private school owners for the development of the education sector in the territory.

The chairman, the board of management of the school, Mutiu’llah Oladele, who made the call during the ceremony, especially urged Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to make access to land easy for serious minded private school owners in the territory.

“Most of these seriousminded private school owners don’t consider profit making as their ultimate objective but aim to complement government’s efforts to revamp the education sector through the provision of humanitarian services to the children in their care. Such school owners should be identified and assisted,’’ he urged.

While thanking parents for their trust in the school, the chairman assured them that they will continue to focus on grooming their wards so that they can compete favourably with their counterparts in other schools nationwide.

Also speaking, the Principal/Head Teacher, Mrs. Abubakar Juwerat Olayemi, said the school placed greater emphasis on Information Communication Technology (ICT), adding that each section of the school has computer teachers with functional computers for practicals.

She called on the teachers to constantly upgrade their knowledge through relevant research and commended them for their effort at placing the school among those at the top.

A parent, Mrs Mariam Saidu Usman, described the school as one of the best, where children can acquire both Western and Islamic education and called on the management not to relent in its efforts, reminding them that the world is highly competitive.

Thirteen students graduated from JSS 3 and 12 from primary 6. Prizes were awarded to students, pupils and staff of the school, who distinguished themselves in the outgoing year.
