2015: Group urges Kwankwaso to declare for presidency
A group, Coalition for Change, Security and National Development (CCSND), has called on Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State to contest next year’s presidential election.
The group said in view of the turbulent times Nigeria has found itself, it is only people like Kwankwaso that can salvage the country.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, Comrade Ikonomwan Francis, who is the Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor on Inter-Party Affairs, said “Nigerians are fed up with divisive leadership,” hence the need for Kwankwaso to step in and rescue the nation.
He said: “We have collectively decided to search for such a leader under the political platform of the All Progressives Congress and in the spirit of equity, fairness, balanced development, recognise the need for such leader to emerge from the Northern part of Nigeria.
“That we have with all sense of modesty and objectivity identified the aforementioned pre-requisites in Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State and sincerely believe in his capacity to responsibly lead Nigeria through this trying time and into a more promising future.
“No doubt, Governor Kwankwaso deserves this recognition from his series of achievements and antecedents and pedigree is a statement of fact evident from the turnaround of his complex, democratically dynamic and historically volatile state of Kano as well as his democratic credentials from 1992 to date,” the group said.
The group therefore called on other Nigerians to support Kwankwaso when he eventually declares for the presidential seat.
