Nyako’s son still in governorship race, says Adamawa APC
Retired Commander Abdulaziz Nyako, the eldest son of former Adamawa State governor, Murtala Nyako, is still in the race for the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the publicity secretary of the party, Rev. Phines Padio has said.
Padio told our correspondent in Yola that the ouster of Nyako as governor has not shelved Abdulaziz’s ambition to govern the state.
There have been speculations that Abdulaziz who exerted influence on the party and played major role in the emergence of the present state executive committee of APC has abandoned his gubernatorial ambition since the exit of his father.
Nyako had denied that Abdulaziz is interested in running as governor at one of the meetings of party stakeholders, assuring the people of the state that no member of his family would stand for any elective post.
Padio, a close associate of Abdulaziz also denied reports that EFCC is on the trail of the retired naval officer, insisting that the report emanated from faceless people who are ‘enemies of democracy and progress.’
He said activities relating to the aspiration of Nyako’s son were on top gear and that he would soon express his desire to seek for the party’s ticket.
“Commander Abdulaziz is still in the race for governorship and meetings and consultations are on to prepare grounds for his eventual declaration of interest. He will officially inform the party of his intention in due course being a democrat and loyal party member,” he said.
