‘ Why Dabang is not APC chairman in Plateau State’
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Integrity Group over the weekend said it is not satisfied with the explanation given by Latep Dabang to insist he remains the chairman of the party in Plateau State.
The group in a statement said all the explanations by Dabang failed to prove that he met the requirement for contesting on the state congress of the party.
A press statement signed and issued to newsmen yesterday in Jos by chairman of the group and former local government chairman of Lantang South, Godwin B. Audu and the group’s secretary, Alhaji Adamu Jeje said the fact that Dabang has continued to receive salaries from the National Assembly is indicative of the fact that he remained in the service of the government up to June, 2014 contrary to the party’s constitution and section 182 (1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
“Latep Dabang’s so-called letter of resignation is inconsistent with the date of the local government election as released by the Plateau State Government. In Dabang’s response to the APC headquarters window to defend himself he claimed that his principal, Senator Joshua Dariye purportedly directed the National Assembly Commission to continue to pay salaries to him up to May, 2014. This is fraudulent.
“We also wonder why there was no single correspondence from the National Assembly Commission which was his employer at the time of his alleged resignation. We have taken the pains to highlight these lapses in our ardent belief that APC stands for equity, fairness and justice,” it said.
