PDP govs adopt new strategies for 2015 elections

- By Saawua Terzungwe

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors said they have adopted new strategies aimed at securing victory for the party in next year’s general elections.

Addressing newsmen at the end of their meeting in Abuja last night, chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, said all issues have been resolved ahead of the elections.

Responding to questions on why Governors Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Martin Elechi (Ebonyi) and Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta) were not at the meeting, Akpabio said their absence was caused by poor weather condition which made them unable to fly from their states to Abuja.

“The PDP governors met and reviewed the state of our party and state of the nation and of course, it was a strategic meeting because of the period we are in. We looked at the situation we are in today and we are very confident that with the strategies we have discussed, PDP remains the party to beat in any election in Nigeria,” he said.

Daily Trust reports that Governors Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Theodore Orji (Abia), Saidu Dakingari (Kebbi), Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Jonah Jang (Plateau) and Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa) attended the meeting.

Others were Taraba acting governor Abubakar Sani Danladi, deputy governor of Kaduna State Amb. Nuhu Bajoga, his counterparts Yomi Awoniyi (Kogi), Alhaji Abdullahi Garba (Katsina) and Mukhtar Shagari (Sokoto).
