- From Kehinde Akinyemi, Abeokuta

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State have warned against the consequence of imposing candidates for the forthcoming general elections in the state.

The members drawn from the Ogun Central Senatorial District gave the warning in a communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting in Abeokuta, declaring that they stood behind the previous primaries which produced candidates for National Assembly seats.

The candidates include: Dr Ibrahim Olaleye(Abeokuta North/Obafemi-Owode/ Odeda), Hon Yomi Ajayi(Abeokuta South) and Mr Nathaniel Sodipo(Ewekoro/Ifo)

The communique signed by Chief Ademola Adeshina, Chief Bolanle Tejuoso and Lijadu Majekodunmi, explained that the candidates emerged from a very rigorous and well supervised process monitored by officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), State Security Services, police, state party chieftains and journalists.

On the postponed Senatorial primary for Central zone, the communique said any attempt to impose candidate will not go down well with the party, arguing that the state chairman of the party Engr Dayo Bayo has publicly announced the postponment of the primary. It stressed the need to conduct a fresh primary poll for the contestants comprising Lanre Laoshe,Bisola Sodipo-Clark and Adebo Fijabi.
