We’ll win in Ekiti, PDP says

- From Doyin Adebusuyi, Ado Ekiti

Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence that it would win all seats in the national and state assemblies and record overwhelming victory for President Goodluck Jonathan in next month’s elections.

The party also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ayo Fayose, saying he has brought the state back to the path of progress.

In a statement by the state secretary of the party, Dr Tope Aluko, PDP said it has appraised the political situation in the state and was confident of its performance.

“We look at the main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and all we can see is that they can never recover from the thrashing they got the other time. The people of the state have rejected them and their hypocrisy.

“They will not win any seat in the February state and national assembly elections in Ekiti State, while their presidential candidate will lose woefully. Who is going to vote a party that does not have the interest of the people at heart?

“Their main stock in trade is to engage in fruitless propaganda, and thank God the people have now seen their deceit and they cannot cover anybody’s face with any veil again,” it said.

The party added that it was happy with Fayose for not failing to pay workers’ salaries despite lean resources.

“His novel idea of stomach infrastructure, which APC needlessly condemned, is being copied by all, including the APC. The welfare of the people is our concern as a party and we are not going to fail in that respect,” the party said.
