‘Lamido exhibiting double standards’

- From Rakiya A. Muhammad, Sokoto

Chairman of Sokoto Democratic Front Mohammad Kabir yesterday flayed Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido over his description of Governor Aliyu Wamakko and Rabiu Kwankwaso’s defection from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as betrayal of trust, deceitful and selfish.

“It’s people like Lamido that would be remembered as people with double standards who do not believe in what they preach. It’s unfortunate that Lamido who was part of the move to save Jonathan against himself cowardly backed out even with the glaring failings of the Jonathan administration and the PDP,” he stated.

Kabir noted that what those who remained in the group wanted was a reversal of the impunity in the PDP and letting the president know that Nigerians are disenchanted by his handling of the affairs of the country, especially as it affects corruption and insecurity.

“As men of conscience and integrity they passed those messages successfully. It’s hypocritical to say that these gentlemen owed everything to PDP,” he pointed out.

He also noted: “Lamido’s later capitulation was really an afterthought for fear of repression and or possible harassment by Jonathan official and unofficial attack dogs.”

Kabir harped on the need for Lamido to respect the decisions of people even if they don’t go down well with him.
