- By Abdullateef Salau

An Islamic group, Women in Dawah, recently, donated food and other relief items to internally displaced persons as well as less privileged in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The items, which included bags of rice, meat, sets of clothes, among others, were distributed to the needy in Durumi, Church Village, Area 1 and Jahi, all in Abuja.

The Vice President of the group, Hajiya Rahmat Musa Sani, said that the distribution was aimed at reaching out to the less privileged in the society, saying “we want to ensure that the needy, including orphans are being catered for.”

She said: “We know things are hard. It has not been easy for the common people to have three square meals a day. In times like this, we decided to distribute foods and other items so that they have something to eat and be comfortable.”

Hajiya Rahmat added that the group, within this festive period, has distributed over 600 bags of rice to the needy residing in different communities of the Federal Capital Territory.

“For the past few months, we have been reaching out to the internally displaced persons and less privileged people in and outside Abuja. This is just a little way of showing our love and sympathy to the needy,” she said.

Receiving the items, one of the beneficiaries, Sa’adatu Aminu, thanked the group for distributing the items, saying “anybody who gives you food to eat has given you everything in life.”

Another beneficiary, Hussaina Ibrahim, mother of six, appreciated the group for the kind gesture and called on government and other kind-spirited Nigerians to emulate the group.
