A corps member, Dr. David Omisore, serving at University of Ilorin in Kwara State, has renovated and equipped Ile-Apa Community Health Centre, left decrepit for more than 10 years.

The health centre, situated in a neighbouring community of Unilorin main campus, has sought attention until the intervention of Omisore, a medical doctor, through compulsory communitydevelopment service under national service.

The renovated parts of the clinic included the main ward, laboratory, pharmacy unit, injection and consulting rooms which were well equipped with necessary facilities including malaria kits, drugs and insecticide treated nets.

“The project was borne out of my commitment to contribute my quota to the development of my place of primary assignment,” said Omisore.

Commissioning the renovated health centre, ViceChancellor of the University, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali commended the initiator of the project, and commended the Ilorin East Local Government for sponsoring the project, but insisted council authorities needed to provide health personnel to make the centre functional.

The state NYSC Coordinator, Mashood Amusa urged other corps members to emulate Dr. Omisore with a view to making positive impact in their places of primary assignment.
