4 killed as bus rams into trailer at Gada-Biyu village

our persons, including a female lost their lives while two others sustained serious injuries after a luxury bus rammed into a trailer early Saturday morning at Gada-Biyu village, on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.

Our reporter learnt that one person among those injured passengers that were taken to St. Peter Catholic Hospital, at Abaji by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for attention later died in the night.

A witness said the accident happened around 4:35a.m. when a Marco Polo Luxury bus with registrati­on number FKJ 652 XN from Lokoja axis, overtook another vehicle dangerousl­y and collided with a Volvo trailer with registrati­on number KTU 519 XF.

He said three persons, including a female inside the trailer died on the spot, while two other passengers in the luxury bus sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital by the FRSC officials, who came to the scene.

When contacted, Abaji unit commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander, Moses Audu, confirmed the accident, saying three persons, including a female died on the spot, while another passenger among those injured died on Saturday night at St. Peter Catholic Hospital in Abaji.

He said the four corpses have been deposited at Kwali General Hospital morgue and attributed the cause of the accident to dangerous overtaking and loss of control.

The FRSC Assistant Corps Commander also disclosed that three persons sustained injuries in another accident which occurred on Friday afternoon at Chikara village, on the Abuja-Lokoja expressway.

He said the accident occurred around 3:12 p.m. when a Golf Volkswagen car with registrati­on number XC 632 LKJ, carrying six passengers lost control on top speed after one of the tyres burst, saying the injured passengers were taken to a private clinic at Gegu town, near Abaji.
