SPORT Gambo relishes UAE friendly matches
member of Home Based Super Eagles to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Gambo Mohammed has expressed happiness with the trip just as he called on the football federation to organise more of such friendly matches for the team.
Home-based Super Eagles who embarked on a playing tour of the United Arab Emirates lost 0-1 to Cote D’Ivoire before beating the national team of Yemen 2-0 in Dubai last Saturday.
Gambo said the two international friendly matches provided the players with the much needed opportunity to improve on their game.
He said many of them learnt new things from the two matches as he said they needed such exposure to become better players.
The Kano Pillars striker said if the NFF will keep the team together with such friendly matches, there would be lesser demand for foreign based professional players for some international assignments.
“I want to thank the NFF for making it possible for us to embark on the playing tour. The matches have helped some of us to improve on our games. I cannot quantify the value of the experience that we have gathered.
“I therefore want to call on the NFF to provide us with more friendly matches. If we are kept together and we play friendly matches on regular basis, some of us can help reduce the pressure on foreign based players.
“So we are all looking forward to another opportunity,” he said.
