Quit presidential race if you hate criticisms, Fani-Kayode tells Buhari

- By Saawua Terzungwe

The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) presidential campaign organisation (PDPPCO) has risen in strong defence of the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, saying she has freedom to express her feelings about the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari.

The first lady had on Tuesday told the electorate not to vote Buhari in the March 28 presidential election, describing him as someone who is “brain dead.”

Following this, the APC presidential campaign organisation called on President Goodluck Jonathan to call his wife to order.

But director, media and publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, said the first lady was right, adding that if the APC presidential candidate is not ready to face public scrutiny and criticisms, he should quit the race and consider retiring from politics.

“To say that General Buhari is ‘brain dead’ is an understatement and to suggest that he is suffering from dementia is nothing new. The first lady has spoken in a courageous and forthright manner and most important of all, she has spoken the bitter truth.

“Instead of crying like spoilt little brats and complaining, the APC and the Buhari Campaign Organisation should live with that bitter truth and leave her alone. She has every right to express herself in any way that she deems fit and she is entitled to her opinion.

“Buhari’s general disdain for women and their opinion is well known. This is a man that said that he would scrap the office of the first lady if he is elected president,” he said.
