NGO trains 60VVF patients on skill acquisition
A Birnin Kebbi - based Muna Hand Craft Cosmetics Enterprises (NGO) has trained over 60 Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) patients on skill acquisition programme.
Coordinator of the programme, Hajiya Maimuna Abdullahi in her speech and presentation of materials to the women at the VVF center yesterday in Birnin Kebbi said the women were trained on different skills such as Air freshness, kids, soap, post handbag, neck less, key holder among others.
“The items donated are worth N400, 000 while the training took them four days and it would help them to be self-employed.
Speaking earlier, the representative of the Atiku Foundation and the Director Youth in the state Ministry of Youth, Comrade Ahmed Bunza, said the programme is the only way to assist the less privileged in the society.
He told them to utilised the additional knowledge of training they have, adding that is another opportunity for them to be self-reliant.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the graduation, one of the beneficiaries Gogo Alhassan said that she came from Bida Local Government in Niger State, adding that she learnt soap making and if she got back home she can establish her own shop. Another beneficiary Maimuna Yahaya aged 17 who also came from Sambawa in Mayahma Local Government of Kebbi state also thanked the NGO and the sponsor of the programme, saying that she gain a lot.
Addressing newsmen, the Doctor in charge of the VVF Dr. Abubakari Bawa Dakingari expressed satisfaction over this training, adding that it is a way of promoting health care service and reducing the maternal cases by joy to the patients.
