As part of arrangement to ensure the effectiveness of the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVCs) Card Reader Machines, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a ‘mock’ election to publicly test run its Smart Card Reader (SCR) machines.

INEC National Commissioner on Information and Voter Education, Chris Iyimoga said the mock election holds tomorrow, ahead of the general elections in 12 states across the six geopolitical zones. This has mixed reactions on the internet sphere.

Donn

said, “Very important move if the intentions are genuine” and posted. “I wish INEC a successful test run of PVC. We should be watchful and make known to the public any dubious moves.”

“When INEC said they were ready for the election

Ishali Iszali

14th Feb you all said Jonathan is the problem. If the election was held 14 February how would INEC test this card reader?” asked

While asking several questions wrote “Are we sure this so called ‘mock election’ is not all a ruse, already designed to fail, so that they can say that the PVC Jega introduced is not ready, and then use that as an excuse to postpone election once more, by which time Jega’s tenure would have expired ? Are we saying that till now, INEC has not tested this system ? Despite the fact that Jega has demonstrated this technology before the senate?

Speculating wrote “I can easily predict that the test is programmed to fail. INEC will thereafter announce that the card readers will not be used. Then we have to ask them how they will determine that the holder of PVC is the true owner.”
