- From Abdullateef Aliyu, Ilorin

he Nigerian Supreme Council For Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) yesterday congratulated retired General Muhammadu Buhari on his election victory, advising him to focus on healing the wounds of Nigerians.

Secretary-General of the council, Prof Is-haq Oloyede who addressed a news conference in Ilorin, urged Buhari to remain prayerful and focused.

He commended President Goodluck Jonathan for congratulating Buhari, saying by that action, Jonathan had taken leadership to a new height and honoured Nigeria.

“More importantly, you have effectively preserved the peace of the nation”, he said.

Oloyede hailed the election of Buhari, urging him not to disappoint Nigerians.

“Nigerians have great expectations from an incorruptible man, a role model, a gallant officer and distinguished statesman”, he said.

“It is your responsibility not to disappoint the teeming majority, the masses especially who sacrificed their time, energy, and lives because their hope hangs on you. As you are set to commence this onerous task before you, we urge you to be careful with those who hail you and reflect on the criticisms of your critics. Know that every failure is a test and every success is a trial. You have passed the test of past failures and it is the wish of the Almighty Allah to try you with success”.
