Ajimobi tackles Alao-Akala, Ladoja over Buhari posters

- From Dele Ogunyemi, Ibadan

Oyo State Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi has described the circulation of posters in some parts of the state with the photograph of the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, with some governorship candidates of the opposition parties in the state as a fraud.

Daily Trust reports that campaign posters of Christopher Alao-Akala and Rashid Ladoja, the governorship candidates of Labour Party and Accord Party, respectively, in the state, were displayed in Bodija and other parts of Ibadan, bearing Buhari’s pictures with inscriptions: ‘Sai Buhari, Sai Akala.’

Speaking to journalists in Ibadan, yesterday, Ajimobi said it was obvious that virtually all the opposition parties in the state worked for President Goodluck Jonathan while attacking the person of General Buhari in the build up to the presidential election, warning that they should desist from deceiving the people by claiming to be in support of the president-elect.

“They can’t do that! That is fraud and they are known for fraud. They were never for Buhari. They took money from Jonathan and openly canvassed for him. They voted for him. Why, all of a sudden, are they trying to associate themselves with Buhari? They can never be for him and they should not defraud the people.”

Speaking on Buhari’s victory, Ajimobi said Nigerians were tired of ineptitude of the PDPled administration and decided to vote overwhelmingly for the president-elect.

Similarly, the All Progressives Congress, Oyo State Chapter, has taken a swipe at Alao-Akala and Ladoja over the posters. The party said the duo were merely trying to benefit from where they did not sow and to curry undeserved sympathy from the electorate, ahead of next week’s polls in the state.
