-

Apolytechnic student has said the newly created home appliances mobile controller could remote appliances afar just like a GSM. Godwin Abakpa who is a graduating electrical engineering student at the Federal Polytechnic in Bida, Niger state said, “The importance of creating the device is to ease stress, save time and protect the risk of unstable power supply which sometimes results in fire outbreak while damaging our appliances.”

The research supervisor, Engr. Abdulraheem Abdulazeez said the device is the first of its kind. He said it is made up of electronic component such as a transformer, power IC, filter, resistor capacitor, a circuit and a mobile phone.

He stated that the device is an easy way of controlling home appliances such as radio, refrigerator, bulbs, aircondition, fan and many more even when one is not at home. The device is accessible anywhere and that one can be in a far location from home and control his home appliance provided there is a network coverage and power supply.

“The device can be used by anybody as far as there is a receiving circuit which will be kept at home and a mobile phone, in case you forget to put off your appliances at home while you are away from home,” he explained.

He added that as a department they ensure that the electrical students are well equipped with knowledge to be able to develop ideas and create things that have never been done.
