PDP presidential campaign organisation winds down
The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO) has quietly disbanded following the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan at the recently conducted general elections, Daily Trust learnt yesterday.
A source within the organisation told our correspondent that the development was sequel to the party’s defeat at the presidential election.
The organisation’s director of media and publicity, Chief Femi-Fani Kayode, who used to brief newsmen on regular basis, has stopped doing so since Jonathan lost the election.
The last time he briefed journalists in his office at Asokoro, Abuja, on election matters was on April 1, 2015, after Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the March 28 presidential poll.
The campaign spokesman, at the briefing, conceded defeat and apologised to APC leaders and the president-elect, saying his verbal attacks on them were not personal as he was only doing his job.
Several calls put to the campaign director were unsuccessful, but one of his aides said the campaign organisation was closed because the elections were over. He said: “I was only aiding my boss, Fani-Kayode, the presidential campaign director of media and publicity. But now I am no more there because everything is over.”
