Traditional rulers laud Saraki’s election as 8th senate president

-

Some traditional rulers in Kwara State have described the election of Sen. Bukola Saraki as president of the 8th senate as ``unprecedented in the political history of Kwara.’’

They spoke in separate interviews with the newsmen at their palaces in Omu-Aran, Iloffa and Egosi in Kwara yesterday.

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye, said the election of Sen. Saraki was a unique turning point in the political history of the state.

He said having the number three position in the country occupied by an illustrious son of Kwara and no other person than Sen. Bukola Saraki was a thing of joy to people of Kwara.

``It is a legacy laid down by the late strong man of Kwara politics and former senate leader, the late Dr Olusola Saraki, the father of the current senate president. This legacy was concretely built upon for years by the newly elected senate president and APC leader in the state. I wish to thank Nigerians, especially the contributors who made it possible and urge them to keep the flag flying in the interest of the country’’, he said.

Oba Samuel Dada, the Alofa of Iloffa in Oke-Ero LGA of Kwara, attributed Saraki’s emergence as senate president to his exemplary political leadership style within the state and beyond.

He said: ``Saraki has the love and affection of the country, his party, people and supporters at heart, so his emergence as the 8th senate president is a welcome development.’’

Oba Daniel Dada, the Elegosi of Egosi kingdom, said: ``Saraki has the capacity and capability to ensure the desired change and transformation envisioned for the country.’’ He described Saraki’s election as president of the 8th senate as a result of hard work, diligence and total commitment to emancipate the state and the country from the shackles of underdevelopment.
