United ‘approach Real for Bale, Ronaldo’

Manchester United have reportedly made an official approach to Real Madrid over four players - among them Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

The news is reported by Spanish paper AS, which claims that Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane are the other two Real stars.

Real Madrid reportedly replied to the query over the four players’ availabili­ty with one simple word: No.

Bale and Ronaldo have long been linked with possible moves to Old Trafford, with speculatio­n intensifyi­ng over the past few months as Bale’s lacklustre performanc­es resulted in him getting booed regularly by Real Madrid fans.

But despite Real’s trophyless season - their first since 2009-10 - the Madrid giants apparently have no plans to break up their famous “BBC” trio. Indeed, AS’s report claims that Real would demand the full release clause value for either Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Sami Khedira has announced that he is joining Juventus.

The 28-year-old has agreed a fouryear contract at the Serie A champions.

The Germany internatio­nal’s contract expires at the end of June and he had already confirmed he would not sign an extension at the Bernabeu.

The World Cup winner, who has been at Madrid since leaving Stuttgart in 2010, had been linked with a host of top European clubs and was the subject of intense media speculatio­n during last summer, with media suggesting that a switch to Arsenal was on the horizon.

That proved not to be the case, however, with Khedira instead moving to a side who have won four consecutiv­e Italian championsh­ips and made it to the Champions League final this year.

Khedira told Germany’s Kicker magazine a few weeks ago that he simply wanted a new challenge.

“This is not a decision against Real, but I want to put a new charm in my career and develop myself,” Khedira said.
