Kebbi gov urged to provide interest free loan to female traders

Former female Kebbi South Senatorial Aspirant, Hasiya Abdullahi has appealed to the Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu to provide interest free loans to female petty traders in the state.

The governor had in his address during the swearing-in ceremony said that, 72 percent of Kebbi people live in abject poverty and women are especially high hit as some of them are old with no means of support, while some are widows with children to support. Hasiya, while congratula­ting the governor on his assumption to office said the loan will alleviate the current economic problems and poverty level in the state.

“The governor himself, has acknowledg­ed that women are especially high hit as some of them are old with no means of support, while some are widows with children to support. That is why we are appealing to him to give the women immediate attention with a credit free loan to either establish or continue to run their petty trading,”she said.

She also urged the governor to remain focused not to deviate from his official duties, adding that she is optimistic that Atiku Bagudu will be a blessing to the people of the state.

“We are optimistic that, Kebbi State will compete with old states in terms of developmen­t in education, health, agricultur­e, empowermen­t and improved welfare package and better equipped civil service,” she said. Hasiya is a prominent female politician and a social crusader for women emancipati­on in politics,a philanthro­pist and mother of orphans.
