2015 Hajj: FCT Muslim pilgrims’ board warns staff against corruption

Staff of the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board have been warned against any act of corruption and abuse of office during the 2015 hajj operation.

The Director of the Board, Malam Bashir Muhammad, gave the warning at a meeting to review the first phase of the education and orientatio­n exercise for 2015 intending pilgrims from the territory.

A statement by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Muhammad Lawal Aliyu, said the director charged the officials for the operation to be more active in dischargin­g the trust of the Administra­tion in handling the affairs of the intending pilgrims.

The director stated that the administra­tion would not tolerate any act of indispline on the part of the officials and stressed the need for them to handle pilgrims’ affairs with all sort of seriousnes­s that would ensure the success of the operation.

He expressed happiness with the turnout of intending pilgrims for the education and orientatio­n exercise and hope to record more impressive attendance in the second phase which is scheduled to hold from tomorrow till Sunday at the permanent hajj camp, located at Bassan Jiwa, near the Nnamdi Azikwe Internatio­nal Airport, Abuja.

He stated that intending pilgrims from Gwagwalada, Kwali and Abaji area councils are expected at the camp tomorrow, while intending pilgrims from Kuje,Bwari and Abuja Municpal Area Councils would have their training at the Hajj Camp on Sunday June 14.

Malam Bashir urged the intending pilgrims to take the programme serious as examinatio­n shall be conducted after the 4th phase of the exercise and only successful intending pilgrims would be allowed to partake in the journey to Saudi Arabia this year.

He said the board has mobilized renowned Islamic scholars for the exercise to enable the intending pilgrims get enlightene­d on the hajj rites as well as new policies introduced for this year’s hajj by the Saudi authoritie­s and National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

He also warned all intending pilgrims, who are yet to return their completed applicatio­n forms or submit their internatio­nal passport to, as a matter of urgency, return them to enable the board process their travel documents or risk the chance of performing the hajj.
