FCT police patrol team attached to Apo division has recovered 50 cows suspected to have been stolen by cattle rustlers at Tudu village in Apo recently.

A source at the division told City News that the recovery mission was carried out on Sunday at about 11p.m. based on a report that some armed hoodlums had stormed the area, attacked and rustled 50 cows after shooting the owner at Tudu village in Apo.

“A distress call was received at the FCT control room and attention of the division was drawn to it. The information showed that gunshots were heard in the area and many residents were running away in fear, thinking that a house to house robbery operation was going on. We assured those calling to be calm and remain where they were,” the source said.

It said policemen at the Apo division were immediately mobilised and swung into action, chasing the hoodlums to Kuje.

“There was exchange of fire, the police pursued and overpowered them, and succeeded in recovering the 50 rustled cattle at Guabe village in Kuje Area Council,” the source added.

The FCT police public relations officer, Assistant Superintendent Anjuguri Manzah, told our reporter that the distress call was put across by the residents and the commissioner of police mobilized his men at Apo division, who recovered the cows without delay.

He said effort has been intensified to arrest the fleeing hoodlums. He commended the dedication and resilience of officers and personnel of the command for being alive to their responsibilities.

“The success we are celebrating today is a result of the viable team spirit that we have built in the command and have been properly keyed into by the personnel,” he said.
