Teenager escaping from brother in Ajaokuta intercepted in Abuja
A 15-year-old boy escaping from his elder brother who resides in Adavi, Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State after stealing his money, has been intercepted by the police in Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The teenager, Audu Jeremiah, was said to have left his home town for Abuja, for fear of his brother’s reprimand, but claimed to have come to attend a programme in a church in Kubwa.
City News gathered that the boy, an orphan, transported himself to Abuja via Lokoja where he got stranded as his money got exhausted and was forced to dispose of his handset in order to raise money to pay for another vehicle going to Abuja.
The source said he claimed he had been watching the pastor of the said church on television and suddenly took a decision to attend the church in Abuja.
According to the source, luck, however, ran out on him when a man who saw him wandering aimlessly accosted him and took him to Kubwa Police Station.
An officer at the station told our reporter that the JSS 2 student had spent some days at the station where he was being taken care of before he eventually revealed his mission to Abuja.
“He finally told us the truth that he stole his brother’s money and was running away from him after one of us who became suspicious of his lies threatened to beat him, having succeeded with the same method with another missing child brought to the station,” he said.
The officer said he quickly gave out the telephone number of the brother off hand, which they used to contact him immediately.
City News further learnt that the brother came to the station the following day and expressed disappointment over the ugly behaviour of his younger brother, confessing that it was not the first time he had been caught in the act.
Reacting, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurrudeen Sabo, said the brother had since taken the teenager back to their home town after he was handed over to him.
