IGP to cater for slain woman’s kids
Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase has taken over the education and welfare of the four children left behind by a housewife who was shot dead by a police corporal at Isheri-Oshun, Lagos last week.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said at a news conference in Lagos yesterday that Arase would also pick the medical bills of the woman’s husband, Mr. Godwin Ekpo, a commercial tricycle operator, who received severe bullet wounds during the shooting.
Owoseni said police authorities had initiated moves to expedite action on the registration of the children in school.
“This has been communicated to the deceased’s husband and he has given us his consent. The police are working to rehabilitate the man,” he added.
In another development, police detectives attached to the Bariga Police Division have arrested a suspected cultist whose members are believed to be responsible for cult attacks in the area. The gang leader known as ‘Anarchy’ was killed in a bloody shootout with the police.
“One AK 47 rifle with several rounds of ammunition were recovered from the gang’s hideout”, the commissioner added.
