‘Checking eroding heritage of Guard Brigade’
The Commander Brigade of Guards, Brigadier General Musa Yusuf has decried the eroding heritage of excellence and regimentation that has been the hallmark of the Brigade of Guards.
He spoke yesterday at an interactive session and mentoring programme with some past commanders and retired senior officers of the Brigade held in Abuja.
General Yusuf said the Brigade has since inception in 1962, developed a distinct belief system that portrays an identity of absolute regimentation in its personnel and admiration in the eyes of the public.
He added that: “It is admired for its impeccable level of discipline, loyalty and sacrifice. Some of the building blocks of this highly regimented Brigade lie in its ceremonies, rituals, insignias and symbols.”
General Yusuf regretted that: “These attributes have however, has not been understood or appreciated by our personnel today.”
